CIM Working session - Paris


Friday, 3rd November:

Check-in and Arrival: The event kicked off on Friday, November 3rd, with participants checking in at the Hôtel IBIS Montmartre, situated at 5, rue Caulaincourt, 75018 Paris. Attendees arrived in the afternoon and settled into their accommodations.

Joint Trip to Austrian Embassy: In the evening, at 5:00 p.m., CIM embarked on a joint trip via the Métro to the Austrian Embassy located at 6, rue Fabert, 75007 Paris. This marked the beginning of the official proceedings.

Reception and Dinner: The day concluded with a grand reception and dinner at the Austrian Embassy at 6:00 p.m., bringing together CIM members from various countries to commemorate and discuss the historical significance of Mauthausen.

Saturday, 4th November:

Working Session: On Saturday, November 4th, the official working session took place at the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, marked by the departure of CIM members at 8:15 a.m. The entrance was on rue de Lobau, behind the Hôtel de Ville, 75004 Paris.

Parallel Activities for Guests: Simultaneously, for guests, accompanying persons, and members of the Amicale française de Mauthausen, there were several cultural options available. These included visits to the Maison européenne de la photographie, Musée Carnavalet, and Place des Vosges, allowing attendees to explore the rich history and culture of Paris.

Buffet Lunch: A buffet lunch generously provided by the City of Paris was organized at the Hôtel de Ville at 1:00 p.m., giving attendees an opportunity to network and discuss the proceedings.

Continuation of Working Session: The working session resumed at 2:00 p.m., with participants engaged in meaningful discussions and commemorations related to Mauthausen.

Guided Tour of the Hôtel de Ville: At 3:00 p.m., a guided tour of the Hôtel de Ville was conducted in English, offering insights into the historical significance of this iconic Parisian building.

Free Time and Visit to the Arc de Triomphe: Following the tour, participants had some free time to explore Paris independently, with an option to visit the Arc de Triomphe, an iconic monument that stands as a symbol of French patriotism.

Flame Lighting and Wreath Laying: The day ended with a poignant moment at 5:30 p.m., as attendees gathered for the lighting of the flame under the Arc de Triomphe and the laying of a wreath, followed by a joint dinner at Les Ambassades de Montmartre.

Sunday, 5th November:

Wreath Laying at Mémorial des martyrs de la déportation: The event's final day began with the laying of a wreath at the Mémorial des martyrs de la déportation on Île de la Cité, a solemn moment of reflection on the atrocities of the past.

Visit to Mémorial de la Shoah: At 11:00 a.m., attendees gathered at the Mémorial de la Shoah, situated at 17 rue Geoffroy l'Asnier, further delving into the history and memory of the Holocaust.
